What is Homer Pulse?
A real-time guide to Homer, Alaska — for visitors planning a trip and locals checking what’s open right now.
Homer Pulse is built around a simple frustration: when you want to know what’s actually open in Homer right now — which restaurant has space, which charter is running tomorrow, what event is happening tonight — you end up bouncing between Google, Facebook, and a half dozen local pages, hoping one of them is current.
We pull that information into one place. Hours, phone numbers, addresses, what’s open now, what’s coming up. For visitors, that means a faster trip plan. For locals, that means knowing where to send out-of-town family without typing six search queries.
Where v2 fits
v1 of Homer Pulse is live at homerpulse.com — 500+ businesses, events, and live tide and weather data. It runs on Streamlit, which got us off the ground fast but isn’t the right long-term home.
v2 (this site) is the rebuild — Astro on Cloudflare Pages, designed to be lighter, faster on mobile, and ready to scale beyond Homer. The eventual goal is a platform that any small Alaska town can run a version of with its own data. Same simple promise: one place to find what’s real and what’s happening, right now.
Built in Homer
Homer Pulse is independently built by Charles Benson, a Homer local. Not a chain, not VC-backed, not selling ad space to the highest bidder. Just trying to make the town easier to navigate.
If you’re a Homer business and want your listing improved, fixed, or featured — get in touch through v1’s Partner Portal. If you’re a visitor and the app saved you a frustrating afternoon, that’s the entire point.
